Christopher Guild Piano
The young Scottish pianist Christopher
Guild has won many prizes and is now forging a career as both a
soloist and accompanist. He has performed throughout the UK and
has received excellent reviews. His programme includes an
intriguing mix of the familiar and the less well-known.
Beethoven’s Pathétique piano sonata remains a firm favourite – it
is an early work, but one in which the composer began to assert
his individual voice. Debussy’s little suite Children’s Corner was written for his young daughter and it contains the
famous Golliwogg’s Cake Walk. Scriabin’s sonata in F sharp minor is a
large-scale work that is both dramatic and highly expressive.
Works by Respighi and Liszt complete this very attractive
programme.
This recital is sponsored by The Countess
of Munster Musical Trust.
