Victoria Sayles Violin

The violinist Victoria Sayles gave a brilliant recital for the Concertgoers two years ago and now makes a very welcome return visit. She will be partnered by Jack Liebeck in a programme of music for solo violin and for two violins. Bach’s partitas for solo violin explore the potential of the instrument to the full, creating effects of counterpoint and harmony that seem to transcend the limitations of a basically melodic instrument. The Belgian violinist Ysaÿe was a brilliant player with a superb technique, who also wrote some dazzling sonatas for violin solo. Also featured in the programme is music for two violins by Mozart and Prokofiev.
